2021 Speaker Series

September-November

BACKGROUND

Using the three-legged stool framework developed by Harris et al (2016), this Webinar Series will examine the interplay between how faith perspectives of students, clients, and agencies affect integration of faith in social work practice. The Series will explore challenging questions with the goal of transforming thinking so it moves from rigid mindsets to a more robust views of ethical integration of faith leading to fulfilling and improved practice.

ORGANIZERS

The Webinar Series is organized through a partnership between The North American Association of Christians in Social Work- California Chapter (NACSW-CA) and California Baptist University (CBU) Department of Social Work.

NACSW-CA is a non-profit Christian social work organization. Their mission is to equip members to integrate Christian faith and professional social work practice. NACSW welcomes as members individuals or organizations that support the mission of NACSW, which is to equip its members to integrate Christian faith and professional social work practice. Most of NACSW’s members are professional social work practitioners and faculty, but others include students, clergy, and other persons of faith working in the social services. Benefits of NACSW membership include free subscriptions to NACSW’s quarterly newsletter and quarterly journal, Social Work and Christianity, access to NACSW’s JobNet Career Center, discounted registration rates for NACSW’s annual conventions. CBU is a private, Christian university in Riverside, California. The CBU Department of Social Work is the fastest growing department on campus. In additional to the MSW program, CBU also launched a Doctor of Social Work program in 2020 and is launching a BSW program in the Fall 2021. CBU’s Department of Social Work currently has approximately 260 students and nearly 20 full-time faculty. The Department of Social Work empowers students to grow in their faith as they work to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities in need.
